Artist : Selfismo ~Biography
Enrique Hernandez I am Enrique Hernandez, also known as SELFISMO. I have been inspired to create art since I was a child. I would draw comics in elementary school with the other students, which led me to attending art school in the neighborhood I grew up in. When the art school closed for renovation, I began playing sports, and I was always hanging out with artist friends. I began doing graffiti throughout the city at the young age of 14. Soon after I got in trouble for painting Cuban president Fidel Castro on the wall of my middle school. I stopped doing art for a while... At the age 17, I was assaulted by a group of teenagers, and my hand was taken from me by a samurai sword. I then sought psychiatric treatment for about a year because I felt that I was losing my memory. I found solace yet again in my passion for art. In 2009 I moved to Salamanca, Spain, where I began painting full time. I continued developing my artistic abilities after moving to Calgary, Canada, where I participated in many art projects, and shows. Over time, I would establish a new abstract style called "SELFISMO STYLE". In 2015 I decided to move to the United States. Enrique SELFISMO Hernandez now continues his legacy in art today. I now reside in Orlando, FL, where I am very active in the community's art scene.
